Demonstrators call for revocation of SC's 20-meter buffer ruling (pictures)

Kathmandu, September 26 — Protests have erupted in Kathmandu against the Supreme Court's decision to enforce an additional 20-meter buffer zone along riverbanks and the Kathmandu Metropolitan City's preparations for implementation.

Today's demonstration comes as the government has filed a review petition, claiming the decision cannot be implemented, and the hearing is ongoing.

Protesters chanted slogans such as "Protect the people's property, revoke the Supreme Court's decision."

On behalf of the government, Phanindra Gautam, secretary to the Prime Minister's Office, has submitted the petition, which is scheduled to be heard today before judges Sapna Pradhan Malla, Til Prasad Shrestha, and Tek Prasad Dhungana.
