Kathmandu Metropolitan City warns retailers against overpricing
Kathmandu, September 25 — The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has warned that it will take action against retailers and wholesalers in its jurisdiction if goods are found to be sold at prices exceeding the maximum allowable rates.
In a public notice, the metropolitan authority instructed that price lists must be displayed prominently at the front of all shops, ensuring that goods are not sold above the maximum price and that expired items are not sold.
The authority also urged maintaining the quality, purity, and cleanliness of food, beverages, and other products. During monitoring, if any goods or services are found to be sold contrary to these instructions, or if complaints are received, members of the monitoring team deployed from this office will take action according to existing laws.
Additionally, the metropolitan authority requested all consumers to check products and services before purchasing to ensure cleanliness, quality, and affordability. If there are any issues with product purchases or to lodge complaints, consumers are encouraged to contact 1180.
