Court sends Chhabilal Joshi on five-day judicial remand

Pokhara, September 23 — The Kaski District Court has granted permission to hold former DIG Chhabilal Joshi, who was arrested on charges of embezzling funds from the Surydarshan Cooperative, in custody for five days.

The court has extended the remand for five days, which marks the beginning of an investigation against Joshi.

He will be investigated for three charges: cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering, according to an official from the District Government Attorney's Office in Kaski.

The police had requested to keep Joshi in custody for ten days for the investigation at the Kaski District Court on Monday. However, the court granted only a five-day remand.

Joshi, who was arrested in Kathmandu, was brought to Pokhara on Sunday night.
