PM Oli reaches New York for 79th UN General Assembly

New York, September 21 — Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has arrived in New York on Friday night, leading the Nepali delegation to the 79th United Nations General Assembly.

Upon arrival at John F. Kennedy International Airport, he was welcomed by Lok Bahadur Thapa, the Permanent Representative to the UN, Acting Ambassador Kumar Kharel, Consul General Chakra Subedi from the Nepali Consulate in New York, and officials from the permanent mission.

Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to address the General Assembly on September 26. The discussions will focus on the need for collective action to ensure peace, sustainable development, and human dignity for current and future generations.

He will also address an event organized by the Nepali community in New York on Sunday. Additionally, he plans to hold "sideline" talks with representatives from friendly nations and development partners attending the assembly.

In his role as the Chair of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Prime Minister Oli will address the conference. He will also speak on topics such as Nepal’s journey of democracy and economic prosperity at Columbia University and Harvard University, discussing transitional justice and climate justice in the Nepali context.
