Nationwide impact as Monsoon winds take hold

Kathmandu, September 21 — The monsoon trough is located to the west of the typical position, stretching both north and south of it. Monsoon winds are impacting the entire country.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, there will be partial to generally cloudy conditions across the country on Saturday. Some areas in the Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces, as well as a few places in Gandaki and Sudurpashchim provinces, may experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall in one or two hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.

Tomorrow, Sunday, conditions will remain partially to generally cloudy across the country. Light to moderate rainfall, with thunder and lightning, is expected in some areas of Karnali, a few locations in Gandaki and Sudurpashchim provinces, and one or two places in the remaining provinces.

The division urges caution in areas at risk of heavy rainfall, as there could be potential hazards like flash floods, landslides, and soil erosion.
