Ruling coalition finalizing Common Minimum Program
Kathmandu, September 17 — The four-member task force formed to draft the government’s minimum common program has brought the drafting process to its final stage.
The task force, which includes two leaders each from the major coalition partners Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, has been working on the draft for the past few days.
Task force member and Congress leader Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat said that the task force is preparing to finalize the draft by Wednesday evening.
“We are preparing the draft of the minimum common program and aim to complete it by Wednesday evening if possible,” said Mahat to Ratopati, “We plan to brief the top leaders after the draft is ready.”
According to the task force members, the minimum common program has been prepared to align with the budget and the government’s policies and programs.
The task force consists of Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa and leader Prakash Sharan Mahat, and from UML, Deputy General Secretaries Pradeep Gyawali and Vishnu Rimal.
Mahat also informed that if the task force completes the drafting work on time, the government is preparing to make it public before Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli travels to the United Nations General Assembly in the United States.
“The government aims to make the minimum common program public before the Prime Minister's visit to the US. Accordingly, we are working,” said Mahat, “We are making every effort to complete it as soon as possible.”
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is leading the Nepalese delegation to the General Assembly on September 20.
