NEPSE drops after two-day rise

Kathmandu, September 4 — The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index, which had been rising over the past two trading days, experienced a significant drop today. The NEPSE index fell by 90.73 points, or 3.20 percent, settling at 2739.46 points.

According to NEPSE, today saw the trading of 20,065,842 shares from 320 companies, with 137,163 transactions totaling Rs 12,925,688,215. All sector sub-indices declined today. The finance sector saw the largest decrease, dropping by 5.15 percent, while the hotel and tourism sector fell by 4.74 percent.

Other sectors experienced declines as follows: banking by 3.17 percent, development banks by 2.29 percent, hydropower by 3.59 percent, investment by 3.56 percent, life insurance by 3.71 percent, and production and processing by 2.55 percent. Additionally, microfinance decreased by 1.38 percent, mutual funds by 1.37 percent, non-life insurance by 2.73 percent, business by 2.68 percent, and other groups by 3.38 percent.

Among specific companies, Excel Development Bank Limited, Win Nepal Micro Finance Limited, Saamudaayik Micro Finance Limited, and Samaj Micro Finance Limited saw positive movements in their share prices, while Kumari Equity Fund experienced a negative circuit in its share prices.

In terms of transaction volume, Nepal Finance Limited recorded the highest trading amount at Rs 30,526,131. Additionally, Api Power Company Limited had the most shares traded, with 719,339 shares bought and sold.
