Muna Pandy murder update: Bobby Singh Shah denied bail

Kathmandu, September 4 — A court in Houston, Texas, has denied bail to Bobby Singh Shah, who is accused of murdering 21-year-old Nepali student Muna Pandey.

Shah appeared in court on Tuesday.

According to a report published in local media outlet Khou.com, new details have emerged regarding the relationship between 51-year-old Shah and the victim, Pandey. Court documents reveal that Pandey used to frequently visit Shah’s workplace at a cafeteria about a year ago.

In his initial statement, Shah’s lawyer, Wilvin J. Carter, asserted that Shah is completely innocent and eager to prove his innocence. “We look forward to demonstrating his innocence in court,” Carter said.

Government attorneys, however, have requested that Shah be held without bail until the next hearing scheduled for December.

Muna Pandey, originally from Bhojpur, Nepal, was studying nursing in the U.S. after arriving there in 2021.
