Former US Ambassador to Nepal Michael E. Malinowski passes away

Kathmandu, August 27– The diplomatic community and Nepal mourned the loss of former U.S. Ambassador to Nepal, Michael E. Malinowski, who passed away recently. His death was confirmed by the current U.S. Ambassador, Dean Thompson, in a heartfelt tweet.

Thompson expressed his deep sorrow and acknowledged Malinowski’s significant contributions to the U.S. mission in Nepal during his tenure from 2001 to 2004. He highlighted Malinowski’s dedication and service, which left a lasting impact on the bilateral relationship.

Before his ambassadorship in Nepal, Malinowski served in various diplomatic roles in other countries, including the Philippines, Afghanistan, and Mexico. His exceptional work in Kathmandu and Peshawar earned him the prestigious “Superior Honor Award.”

Before embarking on his diplomatic career, Malinowski had a background in education, serving as a teacher. His diverse experiences and expertise undoubtedly contributed to his successful tenure as an ambassador.
