Post-mortem underway for 27 killed in Tanahun bus accident
Chitwan, August 24 - The post-mortem examination of the victims from the bus accident on Friday, which occurred in the Marshyangdi River at Ainaapahara, Aanbookhaireni Rural Municipality-2 in Tanahun along the Prithvi Highway, has begun.
The autopsies are being conducted at Bharatpur Hospital starting this morning.
The accident involved a bus with the Indian number plate UP 53 FT 7623, traveling from Pokhara to Kathmandu, which plunged into the Marhsyangdi river. Out of the 27 people killed, 26 died at Aanbookhaireni, while one person passed away in Bharatpur.
Chief District Officer Indradev Yadav stated that the bodies of the 26 individuals who died in Aanbookhaireni were transported to Chitwan on Friday night, and the autopsies are now underway. After the post-mortem, the bodies will be sent to India via Bhairahawa.
Additionally, 16 people who were injured in the accident were airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment on Friday.
