PM Oli and Pakistani PM Abbasi agree to revitalize SAARC process
Kathmandu - Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli and Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi held bilateral meeting today.
During the meeting, matters related to enhancing bilateral cooperation in the fields of investment, trade, tourism, agriculture, and human resources development were discussed. The two leaders agreed to hold regularly the meetings of bilateral mechanisms. They also exchanged views on revitalizing the SAARC process in the spirit of the Charter, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here this evening.
Earlier today, the Prime Minister of Pakistan Abbasi was warmly welcomed by Prime Minister Oli at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel amidst a special ceremony. The Prime Minister of Pakistan inspected the guard of honor.
Prime Minister Oli later hosted a banquet in honour of the visiting Prime Minister of Pakistan following the bilateral meeting.
The Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan arrived this afternoon for a two-day official visit. He was received at the Tribhuvan International Airport by Minister for Finance Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada, Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi, the Ambassador of Nepal to Pakistan, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal and other senior officials of both countries.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari tomorrow.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan is accompanied by Secretary to the Prime Minister Fawad Hassan Fawad, Military Secretary to the Prime Minister Brigadier Waseem Iftikhar Cheema and other senior officials of the Government of Pakistan.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan will return home tomorrow itself, adds the statement.
