NC PP leader pick: voting begins at 10 am today
Kathmandu - Voting is taking place today following failure to reach full agreement to pick Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader.
Former Prime Minister and NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and central member Prakash Man Singh are vying for the post.
Voting will begin from 10 am to 1 pm at NC Parliament Party Office, Sindha Durbar. Vote count will begin right after the voting, said a NC leader.
Deuba's candidacy has been proposed by leader Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar and seconded by leader Man Bahadur BK.
Likewise, Singh's candidacy has been proposed by Treasurer Sita Devi Yadav and seconded by leader Sanjaya Kumar Gauta. Singh is also former NC General Secretary.
Deuba is from the establishment side, while Singh from senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel camp.
The total 63 members of parliament represent the NC (23 elected under the first-past-the-post system and the remaining 40 under the proportional representation).
The NC parliamentary party working committee will have a total of 26 members, according to the amended NC parliamentary party statute.
