Stock market hits record high in trading volume
Kathmandu, August 12: The stock market has set a new record for trading volume. On Sunday, the index rose by 40 points as shares worth NPR 25.93 billion were exchanged, surpassing previous records within just 24 hours.
On Monday, trading volumes reached new heights, with 60,487,600 shares valued at NPR 27.24 billion changing hands in the secondary market, marking the highest turnover to date.
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) reported that the index climbed by 70.81 points to reach 2,931.65, its highest level since the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Monday, share prices for 171 companies rose, while 68 companies saw declines. Himalayan Reinsurance led with the highest trading volume, totaling NPR 1.22 billion, followed by Shivam Cement with NPR 92.28 million.
Additionally, shares of companies such as Suryajyoti Life Insurance, Himalayan Life Insurance, Joshi Hydropower Development Company, Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Company, and Sweet Ganga Hydropower and Construction experienced positive circuit breakers, with over two dozen companies seeing share price increases of 6 percent.
All sub-indices, except for Investment and Manu & Pro, showed positive growth on Monday.
