Autopsy of Air Dynasty crash victims begins today

Kathmandu, August 8: The postmortem of the five individuals who died in yesterday’s Air Dynasty helicopter crash in Shivapuri, Nuwakot, is scheduled for today. The victims include Chinese tourists Judad Tang (male), Ji Li (male), Zeming Xi (male), Yiad Wu (female), and Captain Arun Malla. The helicopter was en route from Kathmandu Airport to Syafrubesi in Rasuwa.

Dr. Gopal Prasad Chaudhury, Head of the Forensic Department at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, said that the postmortem will be conducted using the Disaster Victim Identification System.

Dr. Chaudhury explained, "We are in the process of collecting autopsy data. We have requested the relatives of the deceased to provide necessary information through the Chinese consular office."

He added that the identification details and postmortem results will be gathered from the relatives today, but the formal matching of body identifications will be completed tomorrow.

Dr. Chaudhury further noted that the Disaster Victim Identification System will be employed to match the deceased using fingerprints, dental records, permanent body marks (such as tattoos), clothing, and jewelry.

Previously, the Disaster Victim Identification System was also used to identify the 18 individuals who tragically died in the Saurya Airlines plane crash.
