PM Deuba enquires Banstola's health

Kathmandu - Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has reached Bansbari-based Neuro Hospital to enquire about the health condition of Nepali Congress leader Chakra Prasad Banstola.

The NC leader was admitted to the Neuro Hospital in Bansbari last Thursday after he complained of chest complications.

After meeting with leader Banstola' family, PM Deuba assured assistance for his treatment.

Bastola is currently put on a ventilator and is undergoing medical treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital, according to neuro surgeon Dr Pratush Shrestha, who has been involved in the treatment.

He still needs to be put under observation at the ICU for the next few days.

Leader Bastola remains unconscious since he suffered a brain haemorrhage while addressing an event in Biratnagar five years ago.

He had been treated for 15 days at the ICU of the hospital some three months ago, according to his wife Kusum Bastola. The NC leader remains on a liquid diet fed through a feeding-pipe since the incident in Biratnagar.

The health condition of Bastola is improving. However, it would be early to say anything concrete, Dr Shrestha said.

Earlier this morning, NC senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel and General Secretary Dr Shashanka Koirala had reached the hospital to enquire about Bastola's health condition.
