SC refuses registration of writ against Acting CoAS

Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has declined to register a writ petition against Acting Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Ashokraj Sigdel. On July 28, Supreme Court Registrar Bhadrakali Pokharel dismissed the petition without registration.

This decision has been affirmed by the bench, effectively barring the filing of further writs against Sigdel.

The petitioners, Senior Advocate Balakrishna Neupane and Yuvraj Paudel, also known as Yuvraj Saphal, sought judicial review alleging discrepancies between Sigdel's recorded date of birth in army records and his actual date of birth.

Following the Supreme Court Administration’s refusal to register the writ, the petitioners challenged this refusal in court.

On Thursday, the single bench of Judge Sharanga Subedi upheld the decision of the court registrar.
