Broadcasting of four Indian TV channels suspended in Nepal

Kathmandu: The broadcasting of four Indian television channels—Star, Zee, Sony, and Colors—has been suspended in Nepal.

Service providers have reported that these channels are currently unavailable due to financial disputes between the channel broadcasters and distributors. The issue has been exacerbated by Nepal Rastra Bank’s failure to provide currency exchange facilities necessary for making payments for the services.

A service provider explained that a similar problem occurred in the past with Internet services, and now the same issue has arisen with television broadcasting. Customers have been notified of the service interruption via SMS.

Subisu, one of the service providers, issued a statement saying, "Due to financial disputes between channel broadcasters and distributors, Star, Zee, Sony, and Colors channels are currently unavailable. We are working diligently to resolve this issue as quickly as possible."
