Laxman Kishor Chaudhary emerges as front-runner for Sudurpaschim's CM position

KATHMANDU: In a bold move signaling potential shifts in Sudurpaschim's political landscape, Laxman Kishor Chaudhary, representing the Nagarik Unmukti Party, has thrown his hat into the ring for the coveted Chief Minister position.

Backed by a coalition of 18 Nepali Congress lawmakers, six from the Nagarik Unmukti Party, and four from the CPN (Unified Socialist), Chaudhary's bid carries considerable weight in the Sudurpaschim Provincial Assembly.

With the assembly comprising 53 members and a current count of 51 MPs, the threshold for clinching the CM post stands at 26 votes. Chaudhary's coalition, boasting a total of 31 MPs, draws support from diverse political factions including the Maoist Center, CPN-UML, and the Unified Socialist Party.

As political maneuvering intensifies, Chaudhary's candidacy underscores the intricate dynamics at play within Sudurpaschim's political landscape, promising a potentially transformative leadership tenure if successful.
