Lumbini Province CM Mahara seeks vote of confidence today

KATHMANDU: The Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, Jokh Bahadur Mahara, is poised to seek a vote of confidence on Friday, with a provincial assembly meeting scheduled for 1 PM today.

To secure his position, CM Mahara will need the support of at least 44 lawmakers out of the total 87 in the assembly.

Currently, Mahara has garnered the backing of 48 lawmakers, comprising 29 from CPN-UML, 10 from CPN (Maoist Center), four from Nagarik Unmukti Party, three from Janata Samajbadi Party, one from CPN (Unified Socialist), and one independent lawmaker.

Following a successful vote of confidence, CM Mahara is expected to proceed with the establishment of his Cabinet, marking a significant step forward for governance in Lumbini Province.
