Nepali weightlifter Sagar sets new record at IWF World Cup

KATHMANDU: Sagar Bhandari, representing Nepal, has achieved a new milestone in weightlifting at the ongoing International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Cup in Phuket, Thailand.

Bhandari shattered his own previous record, showcasing remarkable strength and skill in the tournament.

Under the 109 kg weight category, he lifted an impressive 134 kg in the snatch, and 172 kg in the clean and jerk, as confirmed by weightlifting instructor Jivan Gautam.

Previously, Bhandari had showcased his talent at the 19th Asian Games, where he set a record by lifting 133 kg in the snatch.

Additionally, in the Asian Championship held in Uzbekistan, he demonstrated his prowess by lifting 172 kg in the clean and jerk.
