Meeting convened by Speaker Ghimire ends in deadlock over cooperative fraud investigation

KATHMANDU: A gathering of four prominent political parties, convened by Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire, adjourned without reaching a unified decision.

The assembly was prompted by the Nepali Congress (NC)'s unwavering call to establish a parliamentary committee to investigate Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane's alleged involvement in a cooperative scam—a demand deemed 'non-negotiable' by the NC.

Despite the NC's firm stance, pressing for committee formation, the ruling alliance remained steadfast in their refusal.

Consequently, the meeting concluded without consensus.
