CPN-UML's Khagaraj Adhikari eyes Chief Minister role in Gandaki Province
KATHMANDU: Khagaraj Adhikari, the leader of CPN-UML's parliamentary party, is making a bid for the Chief Minister position in Gandaki Province.
Adhikari has gathered support from 31 lawmakers, including 22 from CPN-UML and eight from the Maoist Center, along with Independent lawmaker Deepak Manange.
As political dynamics shift at the central level, Chief Minister Surendra Pandey has stepped down from his post.
In response to Pandey's resignation, Province Chief Dilli Raj Bhatta has called upon political parties to assert their claims for the position as per Article 168(2) of the Constitution of Nepal.
Among the 60 members in the provincial assembly, Nepali Congress holds 27 seats, with the remaining two belonging to the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).
