Mahara appointed Chief Minister of Lumbini Province
LUMBINI: Jokh Bahadur Mahara, the parliamentary party leader of the CPN (Maoist Centre) in the Lumbini Province assembly, has been appointed as the Chief Minister of the Lumbini Province government. This appointment was made by Province Chief Amik Sherchan.
Mahara secured the support of 48 province assembly members, comprising 47 from various political parties and one independent member.
According to a press release from the Office of the Province Chief, Bhumishwor Dhakal, Province Chief Sherchan appointed Mahara as the Chief Minister in accordance with Article 168 (2) of the constitution.
The support for Mahara includes 29 members from the CPN (UML), 10 from the CPN (Maoist Centre), four from the Nagarik Unmukti Party, three from the Janata Samajbadi Party, one from the CPN (Unified Socialist), and one independent member.
