Nepali Congress and CPN (US) explore strategic alliance amidst political shifts

KATHMANDU: In a recent development, Nepali Congress (NC) has proposed enhanced coordination between the party and CPN (Unified Socialist), signaling a potential collaboration between the two political entities.

During a meeting between Sher Bahadur Deuba, President of Nepali Congress (NC), and Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of CPN (US), held at Nepal's residence in Koteshwor, Deuba suggested fostering closer ties between their parties both presently and in the future.

Ramesh Lekhak, the chief whip of NC who was present at the meeting, conveyed that the discussions primarily revolved around ongoing political activities. Lekhak also stated that the meeting concluded on a positive note.

It's noteworthy that both leaders expressed sentiments of betrayal by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, with Lekhak affirming that this was the second instance of such betrayal.

The CPN (Maoist Center) recently formed a new coalition with CPN-UML, RSP, and JSP, severing ties with NC and CPN (US), which adds significance to the proposed coordination between NC and CPN (US).
