Three arrested for baby theft from Paropakar Hospital
KATHMANDU: Police have apprehended three individuals accused of stealing an infant from the Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital.
Man Kumari Singh, 24, originally from Dailekh and currently residing in a rented room in Kandaghari, Kathmandu, has been taken into custody.
Additionally, Singh's husband and sister are also being held for further investigation.
A joint effort by the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office and District Police Range, Kathmandu, led to the rescue of the child and the arrest of the suspects from Kandaghari at 11:45 pm on Friday night.
Preliminary police investigations suggest that the motive behind the baby's abduction may be related to the couple's prolonged struggle to conceive a child.
The baby, who was brought to the Maternity Hospital on Friday for a check-up, was reportedly taken by Singh.
Prompt action was taken following the mother's distressing complaint, resulting in the safe recovery of the infant.
