Regal arrested from Nepalgunj following SC’s decision
KATHMANDU, Nov 2: Yograj Dhakal, also known as, Regal, has been arrested following the decision of the Supreme Court. He was arrested from Nepalgunj on Thursday afternoon, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Banke, Subash Chandra Bohara, informed Ratopati.
The joint bench of Justices Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada, Sapana Pradhan Malla and Kumar Chudal overturned the decision of the President's Office to grant amnesty to Dhakal by the order of Certiorari and also ordered his immediate arrest by the order of Mandamus.
The Cabinet decided to release Yograj Dhakal from prison and recommended to the President for amnesty. With the recommendation from the government, Dhakal was released from prison.
After the Supreme Court’s verdict, Dhakal will have to stay 11 years 11 months and 5 days in jail.
