19th Asian Games: Four Nepali players eliminated in taekwondo
HANGZHOU, Sep 25: Nepal has had a bad start in taekwondo under the 19th Asian Games, 2022. Of the total 11 Nepali taekwondo players participating in the 19th Asian Games, four have been eliminated from the competition so far. Other players have yet to play.
Nepal's Rahul Kumal and Anjali Tamang suffered a defeat in today's match. In the men's category (58 kg), Kumal lost to the player from Saudi Arabia. He was defeated 4-12 and 2-0 points.
Similarly in the women's category (49 kg), Tamang lost to a player from Thailand 12-0 and 10-0 points in the pre-quarter finals. Tamang entered the pre-quarterfinals by defeating a Cambodian player in the first round.
Earlier in the men's category (single poomsae), Prem Bahadur Limbu was defeated, and in women's, Swastika Tamang. Under the Asian Games, in the men's category, Gobinda Bahadur Ale, Bir Bahadur Mahara, Abhishekh Baral and Jyaki Yadav have yet to play, and in women's, Aayasha Lama, Sandhya Kumari Singh and Indira Basnet.
In the earlier competition of the Asian Games, Nepal got one silver medal, and 13 bronze medals from taekwondo.
Nepal eliminated in rugby
Meanwhile, under the Asian Games, Nepal has been eliminated in rugby sevens.
Nepal has been placed in Group 'D' along with the United Arab Emirates, China and Afghanistan. Nepal faced defeat in all three games in the group phase.
