Sandeep Lamichhane’s case adjourned once again

KATHMANDU, Sep 24: The rape case against cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has been adjourned again. As there is a shortage of judges, and after no judge drew the lot of Sandeep’s case, the case has been adjourned again on Sunday.

The appointment of 43 judges has been approved in the Kathmandu District Court, but only 18 judges were present in the Kathmandu District Court on Sunday, out of a current quota of 35 judges.

Earlier on September 7, the bench of Judge Shakuntala Karki had demanded the migration documents of the victim girl and her family, after there was controversy in the age of the victim’s mother. As the documents arrived, the final hearing was scheduled for the 18th of September. However, the case was unable to be heard on September 18.

Due to the case, it has not been fixed whether or not he will be heading to China to play in the ongoing Asian Games, even though his name is listed on the team.

The rape case against Sandeep Lamichhane which was registered in the Kathmandu District Court on the 31st of October 2022, has already been scheduled for hearing 29 times, including today.
