Consensus not reached in meeting called by Gov’t to discuss commission formation

KATHMANDU, Sep 22: The meeting of the leaders of major parties to discuss the issue of the formation of a high-level commission to investigate gold smuggling has ended without reaching a consensus. In the government-called-meeting which was held at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Singha Durbar on Friday, no consensus could be reached.

CPN-UML Parliamentary Party Whip Mahesh Bartaula said that there was no consensus on forming a high-level commission. He said that after internal discussion, the meeting will be held again today for an agreement.

Likewise, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha said that an agreement will be made after internal discussions.

Earlier, a 2-point agreement was made between the 7 parties for the formation of the investigation commission, according to which the chief whips of the nationally recognized parties had signed the agreement.
