More teachers coming to Kathmandu for protest movement
KATHMANDU, Sep 22: More teachers have started to come to Kathmandu for the ongoing protest movement. The Confederation of Nepalese Teachers (CNT) has informed that the teachers are continuing to come to Kathmandu from different districts.
The teachers have been protesting in Kathmandu for the past three days expressing their disagreement on the School Education Bill. Thousands of them have been protesting. Laxmi Kishore Subedi, General Secretary of the Confederation, said that more teachers are coming from all 77 districts.
CNT aims to bring 150,000 teachers to Kathmandu throughout the protest period and has claimed that around 70,000 teachers are on strike so far. Subedi said that teachers are still coming from different districts.
It is alleged that the government has made agreements with them many times in the past, but now, while bringing the Bill, the government neglected the agreement. Subedi said that they are in a Kathmandu-centered protest to protect their profession, by closing the schools.
