Kathmandu Metropolitan decides to take action if schools are closed

KATHMANDU, Sep 20: Kathmandu Metropolitan has decided to take action against the teachers who close the schools. 

Amidst the protest movement called upon by the Confederation of Nepalese Teachers (CNT), the Metropolitan has stated that action will be taken against the teachers who bring hurdles in education by closing the schools. For that, the Kathmandu Metropolitan has instructed the Department of Education to monitor and take action. The Press coordinator of the Metropolitan Surendra Bajgain said that action will be taken if the schools are closed due to teachers' protests.

After the Metropolitan’s instructions, the Department of Education will monitor the schools. Action will be taken according to the Education Act of the Metropolitan if it is found that studies of the students are affected due to the closing of the schools.

Kathmandu Metropolitan had already warned the teachers not to go on a strike and had also warned to remove them from their services if they started a strike, saying that schools are peace zones.
