Riot breaks out in Juvenile detention center in Birgunj, 14 including 3 policemen injured
KATHMANDU, Sep 13: A riot has broken out in a Juvenile detention center located in Birgunj. 11 juvenile detainees and 3 policemen have been injured in the clash between the two sides that occurred Tuesday evening.
Superintendent of Police (SP) of Parsa, Komal Sah, informed that Police security has been tightened even though the situation has become normal on Wednesday morning.
There are a total of 149 juvenile detainees in the detention center including some of the detainees from the juvenile detention center in Bhaktapur who were taken there after a riot broke out in the detention center in Bhaktapur some time ago.
It has been understood that the initial detainees and those taken from Bhaktapur engage in debates and clashes time and again. Those that have gone there from Bhaktapur have attacked the leader of the detainees there, vandalized the detention center, and even attacked the Policemen there, it has been said.
According to the Police, the injured are being treated in a local hospital.
