Bhutan's Druk Air launches chartered flights to Pokhara

POKHARA, Sep 9: Royal Bhutan Airlines has successfully launched a chartered flight to the Pokhara International Airport.

According to PIA sources, the Airbus 319 of Royal Bhutan Airlines (Druk Air) landed at Pokhara Airport on Sunday at 6:39 in the morning and took off to Paro, Bhutan at 8:50 a.m.

The Civil Aviation Authority has informed that the Airline has received permission to operate flights and will operate 7 flights a week from Pokhara to Paro.

With this, Bhutan's Druk Air will be the first international airline to operate commercial chartered flights in Pokhara, said the Authority's Information Officer Gyanendra Bhul. China's Sichuan Airlines had earlier launched a chartered flight to PIA on June 21.

Pokhara International Airport had not been able to operate commercial flights but this launch has given hope for the success of the Airport. The airport was built with a loan investment of 22 billion rupees.
