Hearing of writ against Koshi Province CM in joint bench of Justices Malla and Mathema

KATHMANDU, Sep 3: The writ filed in the Supreme Court against the Chief Minister of the Koshi Province Uddhav Thapa, saying the vote of confidence he took was unconstitutional, has been scheduled for hearing on Sunday in the joint bench of Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Sushmalata Mathema.

When Thapa took the vote of confidence on August 21, he had made the majority by taking the vote of Congress MP Israili Mansuri, also the Provincial Assembly Chairperson. Against that, UML leader Hikmat Kumar Karki, who is also a former Chief Minister, had filed a case.

On the 24th of August, Justice Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada issued a show cause order during the initial hearing of the writ.

The writ was put on the ‘cannot be heard’ list on Friday after it was scheduled for hearing in the joint bench of Justices Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada and Sushmalata Mathema.
