Writ against Koshi CM ‘cannot be heard’

KATHMANDU, Sep 1: The writ filed on the Supreme Court saying the vote of confidence taken by the Chief Minister of the Koshi Provincial Government is unconstitutional, has been put on the ‘cannot be heard’ list. The writ was scheduled for hearing on the joint bench of Justices Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada and Sushmalata Mathema on Sunday.

On the 24th of August, Justice Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada issued a show cause order during the initial hearing of the writ. When the writ was scheduled for hearing in the bench of Khatiwada again, the writ was put on the ‘cannot be heard’ list.

After the interim order on August 24, the writ was scheduled for hearing on September 1.

When Thapa took the vote of confidence on August 21, he had made the majority by taking the vote of Congress MP Israili Mansuri, also the Provincial Assembly Chairperson. Against that, UML leader Hikmat Kumar Karki, who is also a former Chief Minister, had filed a case.
