290 defendants maintained in Lalita Niwas Case

KATHMANDU, Aug 27: In the Lalita Niwas land scam, the District Government Attorney's Office has maintained 290 defendants and sent the case to the court. The District Government Attorney’s Office Chief Achyutmani Neupane informed that the case has been sent to the District Court Kathmandu with 290 people including Communication Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut as defendants.

According to Neupane, the case is in the process of being registered. At present, the number of defendants who have been arrested in the Lalita Niwas case is 18. It is estimated that it will take at least a week to take the testimony in court after the case is registered.

After that, a debate will begin on whether to keep the defendants in prison for trial or release them.
