Hinduists return from Tarahara after being stopped by Police

SUNSARI, Aug 26: Hinduists have been stopped in Tarahara by the Police after trying to go to Dharan and demonstrate a protest amidst a curfew.

They have been protesting against cow slaughter as well as building a church in front of a Hindu temple. Dharan is around 18 kilometres away from Pani Piya in Tarahara.

The Sunsari Administration had issued a curfew for today on Friday as a precaution for today's religious demonstration. A large number of Armed Police were deployed to stop the protestors from entering Dharan.

According to the reports, around 400-500 Hinduists gathered in Itahari and rallied to Tarahara. They tried to protest by burning tires and raising slogans but their efforts were stopped by the Police.

The protestors organised a street corner meeting in Tarahara after the Police prohibited them from moving forward. The protestors returned around 3:30 after the corner meeting. Although the Hinduists have returned, the curfew is still active.
