Human Rights Commission begins investigation on Juvenile Reform Centre incident
KATHMANDU, Aug 24: The National Human Rights Commission has started an investigation into the incident that took place at the Juvenile Reform Centre at Madhyapur Thimi in Bhaktapur.
On August 20, there was a clash inside the Reform Centre after Kamal Basnet, a juvenile, passed away. Some of the juveniles escaped from the Reform Centre during the turmoil.
Spokesperson Tikaram Pokharel informed that the Commission has registered a case and started an investigation into the death of Kamal Basnet.
During its investigation, the Commission has also directly met with the juveniles in the Reform Centre, the security personnel assigned to protect the Reform Centre, the investigation committee formed by the Nepal Police and the members of the investigation committee formed by the Bhaktapur District Security Committee.
