Lebanon proposes to take Nepalese workers for foreign employment
KATHMANDU, Aug 24: Lebanon has made a proposal to take Nepalese workers for employment in their country.
ElCheikh Mohamed Ghouzayel, Lebanon's Honorary Consul General, made the proposal in a meeting with the Labour, Employment and Social Security Minister Sharat Singh Bhandari saying that there are employment opportunities in various fields in Lebanon.
Gozael has proposed to send Nepalese workers to Lebanon for employment through a labour agreement, Joint Secretary Rajeeb Pokharel informed. Minister Bhandari is also preparing to make a draft for the labour agreement and proceed on that basis according to Pokharel.
"Lebanon proposed to take our workers. They wanted to make a labour agreement... send our workers. They said that they had good service facilities… and also many opportunities", said Pokharel.
Lebanon has proposed to take domestic workers in various sectors such as the construction sector as well as the hospitality sector. Pokharel said that Lebanon proposed to take Nepalese workers as many big hotels are being constructed in Lebanon.
There are currently 1,200 Nepalese in Lebanon. Every year, some Nepalese go to Lebanon with personal work permits. According to the statistics of the Department of Foreign Employment, 54 Nepalese went to Lebanon with individual work permits in the fiscal year 2079-080.
