7 dead in Bus accident in Churiyamai

MAKAWANPUR, Aug 24: 7 people have died in a bus accident that occurred at around 1 am last night in Churiyamai, the border of Makawanpur and Bara districts. According to the District Police Office Makawanpur, the bus numbered Madhes Province-03-001 Kha 7994 met with an accident at Churiyamai in Jitpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan-22 of Bara district.

The District Police Office Makawanpur’s Chief Superintendent of Police, Sitaram Rijal, informed that 7 people onboard the bus, died during treatment in Hetauda Hospital. According to him, among the dead, 4 were women and 3 were men, and 6 were Indian citizens while one was Nepali. The other 17 who were onboard the bus are injured and are being treated at Hetauda’s Churehill Hospital and Hetauda Hospital.

The District Police Office, Makwanpur has identified the deceased as Bijay Lal Pundit,41, of Loharpatti, Mahottari; Bahadur Singh, 67, Mira Devi Singh, 65, Satyawati Singh, 60, Rajendra Chaturvedi, 70, Shreekant Chaturvedi, 65, and Baijanti Devi, 67 from Rajasthan. 

The bus heading to Loharpatti of Mahottari district from Kathmandu fell off the road. The accident site lies 100 meters South of Churiyamai Temple.
