Ukraine drone kills three in Belgorod after Moscow attack - Russia
MOSCOW, Aug 23: The local governor of the Russian border city of Belgorod says that a drone attack has killed three civilians.
Earlier, the mayor of Moscow also said that a drone hit a building in the centre of the city, killing three people. He blamed the drone attack on Ukraine.
The Russian Defence Ministry says it foiled a Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow overnight. It said two drones had been brought down by air defences, but the city's mayor said a third struck a building which was under construction.
Russia has blamed Ukraine for a number of attacks on Russia in recent weeks.
In Ukraine, three civilians were killed by Russian artillery near Lyman, Ukrainian officials say.
Vladimir Putin is due to speak this morning via video link at the BRICS summit in South Africa. Leaders of the BRICS group - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa - are meeting in Johannesburg. Travelling to South Africa would have put Putin at risk of arrest under an International Criminal Court warrant.
