Bus falls into Trishuli, 42 armed police deployed for rescue
Death toll: 8
MALEKHU, Aug 23: A bus going towards Pokhara from Kathmandu has fallen into the Trishuli River at Chalise, Fajuri-2 of Dhading district today. The bus with registration number plate Province 3-01-005 Kha 9952 veered off the road and fell into the river.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Santulal Prasad Jaiswar at the District Police Office Dhading said that more than 15 injured passengers have been rescued. 8 people died on the spot and the search for others is ongoing. 23 passengers were on board the bus during the accident, it has been confirmed.
Chief District Officer Badrinath Gaihre said, "Eight dead bodies have been found. 8 injured people have been rescued and sent to local hospitals for treatment. The search for others is ongoing."
DSP Shailendra Thapa, Assistant Spokesperson of the Armed Police, informed that 16 policemen from Armed Police Force Nepal Disaster Management Security in Adamghat have been deployed under the command of the DSP for rescue. Additional 26 policemen including 8 divers under the command of DSP from Disaster Management Training School in Kurintar have also been deployed.
