Lalita Niwas case: CIB to submit investigation report today

KATHMANDU, Aug 21: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Police is going to submit the investigation report of the Lalita Niwas case to the Public Prosecutor's Office today.

The Bureau has been investigating the case of misappropriation of government land inside "Lalita Niwas camp" in Baluwatar for 56 days. Former Prime Ministers Madhav Kumar Nepal and Dr Baburam Bhattarai have been given "testimony papers" by the Bureau before submitting the report.

CIB's Spokesperson and the Superintendent of Police, Navaraj Adhikari, told Ratopati that the investigation report will be submitted to the Public Prosecutor's Office on Monday. "We will extend the deadline for those arrested and probably submit the report today", said Adhikari.

The investigation so far has concluded that the documents of Lalita Niwas have been seized four times, including in the years 2049, 2062, 2066 and 2069 BS. It has been found out that the 147 ropani of government land has been registered in the name of someone else through illegal means. 

The Bureau has arrested 18 people on the charge of misappropriating government land.

12. Balkrishna Shrestha, CDE of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Construction

13. Binod Paudel, Associate Accountant of Samarjung Company

14. Keshab Tuladhar,  Middleman

15. Arun Kumar Shrestha, Staff of Surveyor Department

16. Kaladhar Deuja, Dillibazar Land Revenue Office Chief

17. Sanjay Maharjan, Fake owner

18. Sakalananda Maharjan, Fake owner
