Hearing of proposed Chief Justice Shrestha starts
KATHMANDU, Aug 21: After discussion with the complainant, the hearing on the complaint filed against the proposed Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha in the Parliamentary Hearing Committee has started. The hearing started right after the discussion with the complainant in the hall of the parliamentary committee at Singha Darbar.
Three complaints have been filed against Shrestha. Participating in the discussion, MP Shanti Kumar Timilsina said that Shrestha was recommended as the Chief Justice with the violation of the procedure and said that everyone should follow the law.
Similarly, MP Devendra Dahal said that it is necessary to correct it from a legal point of view. Congress MP Ramesh Lekhak said that although a theoretical question has been raised about the recommendation, it is better to call the proposed person and discuss it.
Similarly, another MP Jeevan Pariyar said that if the Constitutional Council makes a unanimous decision as a full member, then the law will be valid. MP Prakash Adhikari said that it is not the task of the committee to stamp the recommendations.
After the discussion, the chairman of the committee, Pashupati Shamsher Rana, instructed to make arrangements for the proposed Chief Justice Shrestha to attend the committee and answer. After that, Shrestha presented the action plan for the reform of the judiciary in the committee meeting.
