Court orders to present citizenship documents of victim's mother

KATHMANDU, Aug 17: The District Court has issued an order to present the citizenship documents of the victim's mother in the Sandeep Lamichhane rape case.

Defendant's legal practitioner Saroj Krishna Ghimire informed that the District Court Justice, Raju Kumar Khatiwada, gave the order to present documents related to the date of birth of the victim's mother.

The cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane was accused of statutory rape by the victim's family but in some documents, the age difference between the victim and her mother is only 9 years. 

The Court issued an order to present the documents revealing the mother's citizenship and date of birth to clarify the issue.

The hearing in the case will now proceed only after the citizenship documents of the victim's mother are revealed.
