Fake academic certificate case: Doctor proven to be legit released
KATHMANDU, Aug 14: A doctor who was arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) on the charge of using fake academic certificates has been released after he was proven to be legitimate. Pipara-8, Mahottari's resident, Dr. Ranjit Kumar Yadav, was arrested on the 10th of August from Kathmandu.
The registrar of the Medical Council, Dr. Krishna Prasad Adhikari, told Ratopati that CIB mistakenly arrested Dr. Ranjit for having an identical name to another person. After it was confirmed that Dr. Yadav was a legitimate doctor, he was released from custody, Superintendent of Police (SP) Navaraj Adhikari informed Ratopati.
It has been found that Dr. Ranjit and another doctor on the wanted list have the same name except for the name of their fathers, and the Council had sent a letter stating that the two were different people. Dr. Ranjit studied in Janakpur.
The Bureau previously arrested 8 people, including Nepal Congress MP Sunil Sharma, on the charge of obtaining fake certificates. Sharma was released after the District Court ordered to keep him under surveillance. After the release of Dr. Ranjit Kumar Yadav, six others are still in the custody of CIB.
