9 arrested with more than 52 Lakhs fake Nepali currencies

KATHMANDU, Aug 11: Police have arrested 9 people from the country’s capital, Kathmandu, with fake currencies amounting to more than 52 Lakhs. The District Police Range Kathmandu, made the culprits of fake money business public organizing a press conference on Friday.

The arrested are Sindhupalchok residents Sushil Karki, Shiva Bhandari, Arjun Subedi, Milan Bhandari, Krishna Bhandari, Yuvraj Rai of Jhapa, Arjun Budha of Achham, and residents of Gulmi named Sagar Acharya and Parvati Nepali. According to the police, 52 lakhs 75 thousand rupees worth of fake notes were recovered from them.

According to the police, fake 3.6 million rupees was initially recovered from Thankot on Thursday. Following that, police dug deeper and seized more fake money during their investigation.

It has been revealed from the investigation that a factory is operational in Bhaktapur's Changunarayan to produce fake notes.
