Landslide in Makawanpur kills one, and 6 missing

MAKAWANPUR, Aug 8: One person has died and 6 others are missing due to a landslide that occurred in Bagmati of Makawanpur at 4 am this morning after the heavy rain that started last night.

The landslide at Bagmati-5, Sikre Dobhan, had swept away the house of a local named Akkal Bahadur Syangtan. Akkal’s wife, 55-year-old Maya Syangtan, was rescued and taken to a medical for treatment but passed away during treatment at 8:30 am, informed Tek Bahadur Karki, the spokesperson of the District Police Office Makawanpur.

The people missing are 60-year-old Akkal Bahadur Syangtan, his 22-year-old daughter Shila Pahari and 25-year-old son-in-law Jeevan Pahari, 4-year-old grandson Milan Pahari, around 18-months-old granddaughter Dibya Pahari, and a 17-year-old resident of Sindhuli Hariharpur-1, Kokati named Passang Ghising.
