UML MPs obstruct NA meeting
KATHMANDU, Aug 7: CPN UML has obstructed the National Assembly meeting. UML MP Dil Kumari Rawal said in Monday’s meeting that the government has ignored the formation of a high-level investigation committee in the case of gold smuggling and that the house cannot proceed until the formation of the committee.
NA Chairperson Ganesh Timilsina gave Rawal time to speak after UML MPs stood up and objected at the start of the meeting. Following that, Rawal said that the meeting cannot proceed as the leaders of the parties in the government are themselves involved in gold smuggling and the government has not been in favor of a just investigation in the case.
Chair Timilsina asked the MPs to take their seats saying there is a meeting going on between the top leaders and that efforts are being made to solve the problem, but when they refused to take their seats, Chair Timilsina announced the next meeting to be held on Wednesday, the 9th of August at 1 pm.
