Advocate Bhagwati Pandey released

KATHMANDU, Aug 3: Advocate Bhagwati Pandey ‘Sheetal’ has been released from custody. She was arrested by the District Police Range Kathmandu on Wednesday and presented to the court for a custody extension.

Kumodh Dhungel, Information Officer (SP) of District Police Range Kathmandu, told Ratopati that she was released from custody after the court did not allow her to be detained. The court has ordered the police to keep investigating without keeping her in custody saying that Sheetal is not in a position to destroy the evidence.

Advocate Pandey had expressed in a television interview about the marriage of cousins among Muslim, Magar, and Tamang communities. Kumar Singh Ghising on behalf of Nepal Tamang Ghedung and Gyanendra Pun of Nepal Magar Association filed a complaint against Pandey at the District Police Range Kathmandu.

District Court Kathmandu issued an arrest warrant against Pandey on Friday.
